Zoe Saldana is the child of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Nazario. Zoe was born in Passaic (New Jersey) on June 19th, 1978. Both her parents are both Puerto Ricans. Her mother is Puerto Rican as is her father, Dominican. Her family and she relocated to the Dominican Republic at the age of 10, and there they would be for seven years. Zoe was able to establish a love for performance dance during her time in the Dominican Republic. In the highly regarded ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy Zoe learned both ballet as well as other styles of dance. It was an excellent way to exercise an active kid. But it proved to also be a lucky precursor for the beginning of her professional life. Zoe's parents returned to the United States when Zoe was seventeen years old. She was a dancer with a passion and a desire to be on stage grew. Zoe isn't just holding her own in major motion picture projects, but has also earned admiration and respect from industry professionals like Jerry Bruckheimer and Steven Spielberg and actors/actresses such as Tom Hanks, Bernie Mac, Keira Knightley, Ashton Kutcher, Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom.
